I Can Feel You when I Close my Eyes – Sad Love Story

I want to introduce a Korean manhwa which I just finished reading lately. It is called “Sad Love Story”. Well, as per the title of the manhwa, you may know it is a tragedy romance story. The author of this manhwa is SHIN Ji-Sang , Geo. “Sad Love Story” is a love story about 2 men and a woman. It consists of 5 volumes.

The young Joon-young, who was raised by his mother who sold liquor to American soldiers. As a child, he was always teased due to his mother owned a bar that served the Americans.  When he met a blind girl, named Hae-In, they became childhood sweethearts and he vowed to protect her always. Hae-in’s mother was working for Joon-young’s mother. However, Hae-in and her mother took off one night, and leaving Joon-young and his promise behind. Hae-in and her mother then immigrated to the America. Hae-in met Gun-woo, the rich son of a CEO and also the best friend of Joon-young, and she has accepted Gun-woo’s love as she thought Joon-young has dead due to some misunderstandings. With the help of Gun-woo, Hae-in was able to recover her visions and able to see again. Hae-in became a singer, Gun-woo is a music producer and Joon-young is a composer. However, Hae-in did not recognize Joon-young when she met Joon-young as her song composer due to he had changed his name to Jun-kyu. Jun-kyu also did not review his truth identity to Hae-in as he thought she would be happy with Gun-woo and he kept his love for her in his heart. However, Hae-in had the feeling that she had known Jun-kyu before. Hae-in was only found out that Jun-kyu was Joon-young, her always true love, on the day of her marriage to Gun-woo. Hae-in left Gun-woo and ran for Joon-young but he was already in serious illness. So, they enjoyed their happy days as their childhood and Gun-woo was here to meet them. But Gun-woo did not know that there was a person was following him and wanted to kill him. In the end, Joon-young had safed the life of his best friend, but he had shot dead by the killer. Thus, both Hae-in and Gun-woo were sad for the incident.

FYI, this manhwa is then been mad into a Korean TV series, named "Sad Sonata". The actors are Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee-San, and Yeon Jung Hoon. They are star as the 3 main characters of the story respectively.
