My #2 Favourite Korean Actor – Bae Yong Jun

After I blogged for my most favourite K-actor, Song Seung-hun, in last month, now I would like to blog for my #2 favourite k-actor, Bae Yong Jun. I believe many people; especially lady likes Bae Yong Jun after watching the TV series of “Winter Sonata”. No doubt, I am one of them. :P Haha! Actually before “Winter Sonata”, I have seen his another TV series named “Hotelier”. Bae Yong Jun looked so smart in that TV series and of course good-looking! :P

Anyway, please allow me to brief about Bae Yong Jun. Bae Yong-jun is borned August 29, 1972 in Seoul, South Korea. He is a South Korean actor best known for his roles in numerous television dramas. He is also known as Yon-sama (ヨン様) to his Japanese fans. In Chinese, his name is 裴勇俊.

Born in Mapo-gu, Seoul, he was educated in Il-mun Preschool and Myung-il Elementary School. He eventually went to study in PaiChai Middle School and Hanyoung High School. Bae Yong-jun acknowledged that he had a girlfriend named Lee Sa-gang (aka Sagan Lee, Sagang Lee, 이사강), and a photograph of her has since been distributed on the Internet. However, according to a 2005 edition of the I-weekly, a MediaCorp owned magazine in Singapore, Bae has since separated from Lee, citing personal reasons. He has since decided to keep his marital status private. Sources, notably HanCinema, maintain that Bae is still single. Bae's agency, KeyEast, reported that Bae's apartment at Samseong-dong, Seoul caught fire on May 7, 2006 around 8:00 p.m., due to a short circuit. The house was empty when the fire broke out, thus causing no injuries. However, the fire caused damages costing up to 10 million won. During an August 2005 visit to Taiwan, Bae went to the hospital to see a cancer-stricken fan, who is a mother and who has drawn hundreds of Bae's portraits.

The 4 Hot Guys, F4 -- Boys Over Flowers

"Boys over Flowers" is a popular Korean TV drama in the year 2009. It is based on Japanese shōjo manga series, Boys Over Flowers (花より男子, Hana Yori Dango), written by Yoko Kamio. The series is the fifth television adaptation of the manga following the Taiwanese Meteor Garden and its sequel Meteor Garden II and the Japanese Hana Yori Dango and its sequel Hana Yori Dango Returns. A China adaptation is also coming up. I have already watched the Taiwanese series and the Japanese anime series. "Boys over Flowers" is the story about a girl-next-door who gets herself tangled up in a relationship with a rich and stubborn boy, and her life takes a turn as she gets involved with him and his friends, or F4.


For those who have not watched the series or the adaptations before, this is the ‘Iconic Love Story' for those who wish to stay young at heart forever! Jandi, the heroine, is the poor but bright girl who has a strong sense of justice and full of vitality. She transfers to an exclusive high school where only the rich go. In there, she encounters with the four rich and quirky boys and experiences love and friendship. The drama has been very popular in Korea and the ratings have been doing quite well since it started showing in Korea on 5 January 2009.

I Can Feel You when I Close my Eyes – Sad Love Story

I want to introduce a Korean manhwa which I just finished reading lately. It is called “Sad Love Story”. Well, as per the title of the manhwa, you may know it is a tragedy romance story. The author of this manhwa is SHIN Ji-Sang , Geo. “Sad Love Story” is a love story about 2 men and a woman. It consists of 5 volumes.

The young Joon-young, who was raised by his mother who sold liquor to American soldiers. As a child, he was always teased due to his mother owned a bar that served the Americans.  When he met a blind girl, named Hae-In, they became childhood sweethearts and he vowed to protect her always. Hae-in’s mother was working for Joon-young’s mother. However, Hae-in and her mother took off one night, and leaving Joon-young and his promise behind. Hae-in and her mother then immigrated to the America. Hae-in met Gun-woo, the rich son of a CEO and also the best friend of Joon-young, and she has accepted Gun-woo’s love as she thought Joon-young has dead due to some misunderstandings. With the help of Gun-woo, Hae-in was able to recover her visions and able to see again. Hae-in became a singer, Gun-woo is a music producer and Joon-young is a composer. However, Hae-in did not recognize Joon-young when she met Joon-young as her song composer due to he had changed his name to Jun-kyu. Jun-kyu also did not review his truth identity to Hae-in as he thought she would be happy with Gun-woo and he kept his love for her in his heart. However, Hae-in had the feeling that she had known Jun-kyu before. Hae-in was only found out that Jun-kyu was Joon-young, her always true love, on the day of her marriage to Gun-woo. Hae-in left Gun-woo and ran for Joon-young but he was already in serious illness. So, they enjoyed their happy days as their childhood and Gun-woo was here to meet them. But Gun-woo did not know that there was a person was following him and wanted to kill him. In the end, Joon-young had safed the life of his best friend, but he had shot dead by the killer. Thus, both Hae-in and Gun-woo were sad for the incident.

FYI, this manhwa is then been mad into a Korean TV series, named "Sad Sonata". The actors are Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Hee-San, and Yeon Jung Hoon. They are star as the 3 main characters of the story respectively.
