Korean idols DGNA perform theme; film of Mayu Shinjo's manga to open in August
The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Mayu Shinjo's Ai Ore Love Me! (Ai o Utau yori Ore ni Oborero!) shōjo romance manga began streaming the film's 100-second trailer on Saturday. The trailer features the film's theme song "Ikenai 1-2-3" by the Korean male idol group DGNA.
DGNA member Karam stars as Akira Shiraishi, the male “princess” of an all-boys school. Actress Ito Ōno (High School Debut) plays Mizuki Sakurazaka, the female “prince” of her all-girls school and the lead guitarist in an all-girl rock band. Akira wants to join Mizuki's band Blaue Rosen when the band's lead singer moves overseas, but first he has to overcome Mizuki's suspicious misgivings.
"Ikenai 1-2-3" is DGNA's first theme song for a Japanese film, and it will go on sale this summer. The film itself will open in Japan on August 25.
Viz Media published the third volume of Ai o Utau yori Ore ni Oborero! under the title Ai Ore in North America last November. Viz also publishes the Ai-Ore! Danshikō no Hime to Joshikō no Ōji sequel (under the same Ai Ore title) and Shinjo's Sensual Phrase manga.
